    A little Trivia about the Isle of Wight to get started!

    The Isle of Wight Is a beautiful little island 2.4 miles off the southern coast of England. It is the smallest county in the UK measuring 23 miles by 13 miles with 57 miles of stunning coastline, however it’s not so small that it cannot accommodate 7 full sized golf courses!

    There are 130’000 residents on the island which makes it the UK’s largest political

    Visit Compton Bay

    Located in West Wight, Compton Bay is one of the Isle of Wight’s best kept secrets. This is a prime location, perfect for surfing and water sports with thousands flocking here every year for this reason. Compton Bay is the perfect spot for a family day where you can spend time on the sandy beach and enjoy a cable car ride whilst taking in the stunning surrounding views. The Island is one of the best places for dinosaur discovery in Europe and at low tide you can see a real dinosaur footprint at Compton Bay! Now you can understand why the Isle of Wight draws so many fossil hunters each year.

    Go see the Needles

    The Needles is a famous natural landmark consisting of a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise about 30m out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight. Here you will find Alum Bay Glass where you can enjoy a fun and educational experience. Visitors can watch the art of glass blowing and see talented craftsmen make a variety of crafted glassware.

    At the Isle of Wight Sweet manufactory, watch skilled sweet makers create unique sweets that you won’t find anywhere else! Definitely worth a visit!

    Head to Osborne House

    You can’t talk history of the island without mentioning Queen Victoria, who loved the Isle of Wight so much she persuaded her husband, Prince Albert, to build a seaside holiday home with some of the most beautiful gardens and views on the island. It later became her permanent home and is worth a visit at any time of year with on-site facilities including various restaurants, gift shops and children’s play area.

    To learn about the Islands military culture, definitely visit the island defences, previously protecting the little Island from invaders and being a first port of call for the mainland when intruders tried crossing the channel. The Fort Victoria Country Park isn’t all guns and battlements though, offering a variety of attractions including a model railway for you to experience.

    Learn some history at Brading Roman Villa

    The island has been around a little longer than Victorian times, you can discover some ancient history at one of the largest Roman archaeological sites in the UK. It’s a fascinating experience to view first-hand original, and beautifully preserved, mosaic floors from many thousands of years ago. There are plenty of fascinating artefacts to view before you get to spend in the shop and drink tea and coffee in the café!
