Is There a Way to Have a Holiday Lodge Without Owning It?
For many people, the idea of having a holiday lodge is incredibly appealing.
Returning to the same place throughout the year.
Leaving personal items there.
Getting to know the local area rather than starting again every time.
But when it comes to actually buying a holiday lodge, a lot of people hesitate — and often walk away.
We see this every day.
The hesitation behind buying a holiday lodge
Buying a holiday lodge is a big commitment. Even when the lifestyle feels right, the practical questions often cause people to pause:
-
Is it worth the long-term commitment?
-
What happens if our circumstances change?
-
How do site fees work?
-
Will it depreciate?
-
How easy is it to sell later?
For many, it’s not a clear “no”.
It’s more often a “not sure”.

“We love this idea… but we’re not rushing.”
And at the moment, that uncertainty usually means one thing: they don’t proceed.
The problem with the current choices
Right now, the options tend to be quite binary.
You can either:
-
Book short-term holiday rentals, rebooking each time, dealing with availability, and never quite feeling like it’s “your place”
Or:
-
Buy a holiday lodge outright, committing significant capital and accepting the long-term responsibilities that come with ownership
There’s very little in between.
For people who want familiarity and flexibility — without a permanent commitment — that gap is frustrating.
Asking a simple question
We’ve been asking a straightforward question:
Is there a way to enjoy a holiday lodge without owning it?
Not renting it week by week.
Not living there permanently.
But having regular, repeat access to the same lodge — without buying.
That question has led us to explore a new idea.
Exploring a new idea: Parklink FlexStay
We’re currently testing an early-stage concept we’re calling Parklink FlexStay.
It’s designed to sit between holiday rental and ownership.

Under this model, someone could enjoy long-stay, all-inclusive holiday use of a specific lodge, without buying it and without any obligation to do so.
The aim is simple:
-
remove the pressure to commit
-
reduce complexity
-
and make the holiday lodge lifestyle more accessible to people who aren’t ready to buy
This isn’t a finished product — it’s an idea we’re exploring in response to a real pattern we see every day.
What this could look like in practice
While this is still a test, the idea itself is straightforward.
Someone could:
-
enjoy exclusive use of a named holiday lodge
-
pay a single monthly price that covers everything
-
use the lodge for holidays and leisure, as and when it suits them
-
do so without any requirement to purchase or commit long term
Some lodges may offer an optional right to buy later, but that’s not the point of the model. Many people may never want to own — and that’s perfectly fine.
Parklink FlexStay is about use and enjoyment, not investment.

Who this might be for
We think this idea could appeal to people who:
-
Like the idea of having their own holiday lodge
-
Want to return to the same place regularly
-
Don’t want the full commitment of ownership
-
Feel unsure about depreciation, site fees, or resale
-
Value simplicity and flexibility over long-term obligations
In short, people who love the lifestyle — but hesitate at the purchase.
Important to be clear
Parklink FlexStay is intended for holiday and leisure use only.
It is not:
-
a residential arrangement
-
a tenancy
-
a way to live somewhere permanently
It’s about enjoying a holiday lodge in a simpler, lower-commitment way.
Why we’re testing this now
We’re starting small.
This is an early-stage trial using a very limited number of unsold lodges on selected parks. We’re not launching a new product or rolling this out widely yet.
Right now, we’re simply trying to understand:
-
whether people are actively looking for something like this
-
whether it solves a real hesitation
-
and whether it works in practice for both customers and parks
The only way to answer that is to test and listen.
We’d love your thoughts
If you’ve ever considered buying a holiday lodge but stopped short — for any reason — this idea may resonate with you.
We’d genuinely love to know:
-
Does this sound appealing?
-
Does it solve a problem you’ve experienced?
-
Or does it raise questions we haven’t considered yet?
There’s no obligation and no pressure.
We’re simply exploring whether there’s a better middle ground.
Interested in this idea?
We’re quietly sense-checking whether an option like this would be useful.
